MAKE YOUR OLD LEATHER LOOK NEW

You can use SURFLEX STANDARD Colors as your leather colorant. The color of both leather and vinyl can be changed using SURFLEX which is a superior water based polymer dye used for refinishing leathers. Flexible Surface leather colorant kit is used for leather and vinyl as it is different from lacquer-base preparations.

Lacquer-base preparations close the pores of the leathers thus shorten the life of leather. Compared to that water-base SURFLEX helps to leave the pores of the leather to open and dries to a natural finish in about 20 minutes. This enables the leather conditioning and keeps it soft and supple after you have re-colored it.

SURFLEX does not crack or chip or become brittle after few years. Instead it restores the natural leather appearance and does not look like artificial painting. SURFLEX is a non-toxic and low odor leather colorant that won’t cover up the natural leather or vinyl grain pattern.  Just using a soft brush or proper spray equipment SURFLEX can be easily applied to the leather. The new SURFLEX finish will remain permanently flexible.

All leathers are not vat dyed, but most leathers are surface coated. Casein or synthetic resin contained solutions are sprayed to the leather surface. In this process a rotating brush is used to apply the finishing solution to the surface of the leather. Then polishing is done with lustering solutions using burnishing machines. Here the glass cylinders are compressed on the surface. Cloth ironing machines are also used for this purpose.

This lengthy and complicated process turns animal skins into one of the world’s most durable materials. The highly used leather products includes luggage, clothing, upholstery and automobile interiors and many more items are all enhanced in both value and appearance which are known as genuine leather. But to maintain both its longevity and quality, it requires proper maintenance that includes regular cleaning and conditioning. These help the leather to be in its original form for long years.

On historical times leathers that were available in the market were only vat dyed. There were limited numbers of colors and mostly they were dark. But usually these colors fades up quickly after exposure to the sun and changes into strange shades of greens or browns. May be the surfaces did not crack and chip so quickly but they became dry and stiff.

Maintenance of Leather should be maintained on a regular basis to keep its look and shine in better conditions for years. The leathers often Detroiter but the automobile upholstery is mostly prone to rapid deterioration. This leather should be treated with an oil conditioner every three or four months. New leather should start treating after the first six months. If proper maintenance can be done the flexibility and durability of the leather can be prolonged by many years.

Conditioners when applied to the leather surface, the water on the surface are evaporated while a thin film of oil is left over the leather for a good shine. One of the best leather conditioner that can be used is SOFFENER from leather plus.
